Lyn Photo 7-29 crop about pgLyn Watner is creative and innovative with a can-do attitude! With over 25 years of experience developing capital and annual fund campaigns, developing ground breaking case statements, she has generated over $75million dollars throughout her career. Her ability to retain investors by creating an innovative stewardship plan for every investor has become one of her signature achievements. Her mastery of making “the ask” has given her the opportunity to engage an impressive number of major and principle investors during her tenure as a fund raising professional.

Lyn has succeeded at prestigious organizations such as Johns Hopkins Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, LifeBridge Health Systems, and The International Center for Research on Women as well The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and Sister to Sister, a nonprofit that promotes women’s heart health. Her ability to create innovative strategic plans, training boards and staff as well as generating an inspired case statement that communicates the real story of their organization, has given her clients the opportunity to surpass their fund raising objectives. Her motivation is to inspire development representatives to do the equivalent creativity for their organizations.

It is interesting to note that Lyn started her professional career as the only woman sports agent in Major League Baseball from 1976-1986. Her forte was contract negotiations with the General Manager’s in the Latin American Winter Leagues (she speaks fluent Spanish) as well creating promotional opportunities for the players. Her second career was as Vice President of New Business for an ad agency raising over $16million dollars of new business. Being a long time Baltimore resident, she volunteered her time to work with nonprofits in her community.

Philanthropic Coach & Consultant

Early in my career as a development professional, I was fortunate to have Lyn Watner as a supervisor and mentor. I learned a great deal from her about major gift fundraising and over the years, have also watched Lyn grow and evolve into a talented development executive who understands and can manage all components of an advancement operation. She is highly strategic and truly synthesizes both the art and science of fundraising to plan, execute and achieve—or exceed—goals.
Lyn is that rare fundraiser who not only has the ability to cultivate relationships with donors; she is an outstanding administrator and manager. Lyn knows how to raise money on the “front line,” and also understands what it takes to run an effective development “shop” and campaign. She is an exceptional manager and mentor who elicits the best from staff, promotes their professional development and growth, and understands the dynamics of building a team. As a consultant, Lyn brings a wealth of experience and track record of success to the table; she is a results-driven and creative fundraiser with unquestionable ethics and integrity.
